  • Thanks for the rounds @pinnacle_boxing 👊💥
  • Billy "The Kid" Irwin, former Olympian and IBO Lightweight Champ spent the weekend sharing his knowledge with our competitive boxers and it brought a different energy into the room for Open Gym on Friday night. WSBC is proud to celebrate and support our Canadian boxing heroes and honoured to have their support and endorsement as we grow.

Thanks Billy. 💥👊🤠

  • In boxing, discipline means returning to the same fundamentals, day after day. Another round of shadowboxing. More footwork. Thousands of jabs. Correcting the same mistake until the right movement becomes a habit.

Some days, it feels like you’re going nowhere. But those repetitions build balance, conditioning, and composure. Gradually, you start seeing openings you used to miss. You finish rounds stronger. You stay calm in situations that once overwhelmed you.

Comfort means always avoiding the skills you struggle with, and waiting until you feel motivated to train. A year passes, and the same weaknesses are still there.

You don’t need every session to be harder. You need to show up with a purpose, accept correction, and keep working on what needs work.

  • We have short memories -- and we are quick to dismiss the accomplishments of others -- especially so, when those accomplishments are beyond our individual reach. Billy Irwin is an icon. There isn't a boy who grew up in Ontario in the 90's that doesn't recognize the name or remember watching him fight on TSN.

This weekend, Billy shared his extensive experience and knowledge with the boxers at WSBC and raised the energy levels in the room in a big way. He inspired a gym full of kids who marvelled over his belts and he helped me take a great leap forward as a coach.

Thanks Billy. 👊💥

  • 🥳 👊💥 West Side Boxing Club turns ONE today. 💥🥊🎂

It’s hard to believe that what started with a few rubber mats on the floor and mirrors on the wall has grown into the community we have today.

Youth and adults, beginners, experienced boxers and even a few of Canada's boxing heroes —all coming together to learn the sweet science, challenge themselves, and support one another. Every day, we see people sharing what they know, encouraging someone through a tough round, and celebrating each other’s progress. The culture in this place is something unique.

To our members: you made this happen. You brought those mats to life. Your energy, kindness, hard work, and willingness to help each other have made WSBC a place where people feel welcome, supported, and proud to belong.

Seeing Mark’s picture looking over it all makes this anniversary especially meaningful.

Thank you EVERYONE for showing up, believing in this little gym, and making it what it is today. I’m incredibly grateful to every one of you.

Happy first birthday, West Side. Here’s to many more rounds together. ❤️🥊
