  • They say that boxing is the loneliest sport in the world -- but what does that mean? Certainly it has to do with the fact that you are in the ring alone when you're competing but it also refers to the amount of solo work required to become a skilled boxer.

Classes are important. Sparring is important. Coaching is important. But eventually every serious boxer learns the same lesson: class alone is not enough.

The fighters who truly improve are the ones who come in when nobody asked them to. They hit the bag after everyone leaves. They skip rope alone. They shadowbox in empty corners of the gym. They do roadwork when the weather is bad and nobody would blame them for staying home.

Those lonely hours matter because boxing is deeply personal. Your conditioning, your confidence, your toughness, and your discipline are built when there’s no coach watching and no teammates pushing you along.

Anybody can work hard when the room is loud and energy is high. Real fighters learn how to work when it’s quiet.

The work you do alone is what shows up when the pressure is on. 🥊
  • Happy Birthday to our friend, Olympian and World Champ Billy Irwin. @billyirwin22
  • WHY IS IT CALLED 'BOXING'?

The word comes from the term “box,” meaning a blow or strike with the hand. Long before gloves, ropes, and championship belts, fighters were said to be “boxing” because they were trading punches — literally giving and receiving “boxes.”
  • 💥OPEN TO THE PUBLIC💥 This raffle will directly support Beau’s effort to raise 10K for the @pinballfoundation before fight night. Thanks to @hayabusacombat for their support.

DONATE HERE: www.victorygala.ca/beaufournier
  • Even as a tag team, Pedro (@henshaw.peter) & I (@jdwmcg) couldn’t keep up with this kid, Beau (@beau_fournier35) on the Hill of Death at Fort Henry. 👊💥
  • FOUND FOOTAGE: 1995 Our very own Coach Chad Compeau vs. Kevin Rea in Windsor. Chad with the same relentless pressure as ever. Great old fight. Come learn from Chad tonight at 18:00 All Levels Boxing
  • Boxing and Fitness classes in Kingston's West End. Book a free trial class at West Side Boxing Club in Kingston.

WSBC is a fun, inclusive and safe environment where you can learn legitimate boxing skills from world class coaches with international, in-ring experience.
  • Busy day @ West Side Boxing. New swag drop (hoodies + kids tees).
  • BREAKING: Due to an unfortunate injury - Dustin has been forced off the @victorygala2026 Gala card on June 5th.

In a courageous display of team spirit, @beau_fournier35 Fournier has agreed to step in on short notice to fight a very legit opponent.

The club will be redoubling our efforts to hit the 10K mark for total donations raised. Thanks to Dustin for all the hard work he’s done in fundraising. STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES!
