  • BRAMPTON CUP 1995 -- Chad Compeau takes the gold while a 12 year old kid named Dave McGregor takes silver in his first fight with hometown hero, Mark Leduc in the crowd.

The Brampton Cup is one of the most respected and longest-running amateur boxing tournaments in Ontario — and arguably in Canada. It is our hope that this time next year we'll be sending a team to represent West Side Boxing Club.

Over the years, the Brampton Cup has featured many boxers who went on to become national champions, Olympians, and world-class professionals. Some notable fighters who competed there during their amateur careers include:

Lennox Lewis – Before becoming heavyweight world champion, Lewis boxed extensively in the Ontario amateur system.

Arturo Gatti – Fought in Ontario as an amateur before turning pro and becoming a world champion.

Samuel Vargas – Canadian Olympian (2012) who came through the Ontario amateur circuit.

Mandy Bujold – Two-time Olympian and one of Canada’s most accomplished female amateurs.

Mary Spencer – World champion and Olympian who competed regularly in major Ontario tournaments.
